Not putting all my eggs in one basket
One of the things I have learned over the last year, is not to put all my eggs in one basket. What do I mean by this. Well basically not to depend on one source of online revenue.
So today, I thought I'd start talking about my other online revenue endeavours. I actually work full time in a digital marketing type role, so I'm in that good place where I do not need to depend on my online revenue.
However, as the last 14 months have shown (Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 onwards), it is always useful to have a little extra coming in from somewhere else.
Obviously I have my Etsy Shop which does quite well for a slow but intermittent stream of revenue. I'd also, many years ago, set up a Redbubble shop, but didn't really know what I was doing with it. So it sat there for a while with half a dozen designs and a sale once in a blue moon. Then last June (2020), I got a sale of a sticker.
This sale re-awakened my interest in Redbubble, therefore I decided to do some research on how to sell on Redbubble, well OK, I watched some YouTube videos. I can tell you, there are a lot of YouTube videos on how to sell on Redbubble.
Lots of the advice was to follow (or what seems to be chase) trends and do text based designs. To me this just seems like a great way to burn yourself out! I decided to go down the niche route and use evergreen designs (designs that can sell all year round).
So this is what I did. My Redbubble shop is mostly aviation and military themed. Aviation and military history are two areas I have an interest in, so hopefully my designs are correct and also appeal to like minded people. This also helps the marketing on places like Instagram etc., as I can also follow and interact with accounts that actually interest me.

I may not be making thousands from this store, it is like the Etsy shop, peaks and troughs. But I see this as a slow burn which will only improve over time.
